This 12V Dynalite unit replaces the Lucas C39 and is available with or without the rear mounted tachometer drive. It has an output of 40A compared to 25A of the original and weighs 3.5kg, compared to 5.8kg originally. The two listed on this page are for negative earth applications only. A C39 for postive earth applications is also available.
To ensure that the dynamo on your vehicle is a C39, it should be stamped with 'C39' on the case. If you cannot find this, check the distance between the monting flanges, it should be approximately 140mm. It should be noted that the original Lucas C39's and C40's were physically the same and it is often difficult to distinguish between them. The Dynalites supplied to replace these two models are essentially the same unit.
Dynalite are not supplied with a pulley or fan fitted. However, as the shaft diameter of the Dynalite is 15mm, the fan and pulley from your old dynamo will fit. If you do not have a fan and pulley we able to supply these separately.
When connecting the Dynalite to your vehicles electrics, there are two options:
1. Use the existing control box as a junction box.
2. Dispense with the original control box and purchase from us a dummy control box, which acts a connection box, but also has an integral fuse. The integral fuse, fuses the output of the Dynalite, to protect the wiring of your vehicle incase there is a short circuit within your existing wiring. (This is the recommended option, due to the fusing capability).
Wiring diagrams for both methods of connection are shown on this page.
